Semi permanent make upSemi permanent make up is a process whereby hypo-allergic pigments are inserted into the dermal layer of the skin. After the healing process the pigment will stay in the skin for a number of years breaking down and fading with time, dependent on the clients’ age and skin type.

Pigment acceptance is achieved by depositing colour pigment into the first layer of the dermis- through the four layers of the epidermis.  The initial inflammatory response due to the penetration of the needles and insertion of the iron oxide pigment causes a migration of macrophages to the area. The macrophages engulf the pigment granules and draw them to the second layer of the dermis this process takes one – two weeks.  Pigment granules must be over 6 micron so that the macrophages cannot pull the pigment through the second layer of the dermis: It’s too large to penetrate the blood vessels.  Allowing for low spreading or migrating, pigment colours vary with individual taste and skin colouring.  Remember less is best and natural rules.

Black pigment could potentially migrate or turn blue, you should always mix orange with the black to try and eliminate and counteract.  Second visits or ~Touch Ups should be done after one month and before three months for a clients guarantee to be valid.  It’s advisable for more mature clients wait for maybe six weeks before returning as their skin heals much more slowly.

Patch testing is recommended prior to all procedures to eliminate potential allergic reaction to pigment.

Eyebrows – The application of SPMU to create or enhance a set of eyebrows can be the most involved, as quite simply you need “a matching pair”.  Each and every client’s forehead is either uneven or slightly undulated.  Clients who have alopecia will have to gauge where to draw the brows.  If she is missing her eyebrow tails then this is not quite so difficult, but nevertheless requires great skill. Alternatively hair strokes can be applied to give density.  Primary factor to consider when designing the eyebrows is that they frame the eyes.  This is an ideal opportunity to encourage a natural look.  Colour will appear much darker for the first few days but will fade

Eyeliner – This is perhaps the most effective way of beautifying a woman’s eyes. The eyeliner already has a designated border that requires pigmentation, the lash line will guide, thickness and design of the eyeliner which will be discussed at consultation.  We strongly advise against adding tails to the eye as we wish to create a natural enhancement.  Thick eyeliner can only be achieved with multi-visits.  Clients with Alopecia may find this procedure more uncomfortable than most.  Avoid the tear duct at all times. Colour will appear much darker for the first few days but will fade.

Lips-  This procedure may initiate Herpes Simplex (cold sore) activity strongly recommend a course of antibiotics to avoid brake out one week pre treatment procedure and one week post.  SPMU on the lip area can achieve a highlight and outline to the natural shape of the lips, correct irregular lips shape, thicken vermillion border and reduce the appearance of size.  All of these treatments involve working in the borderline of the vermillion border.  Working outside of the vermillion border can cause a white edge this is acceptable to many ladies who will then fill in with lipstick.  Most important factor is “how you will look first thing in the morning with no makeup on”.  Discuss and chose a natural /earthy colour that defines and enhances her lips and would look good with lip gloss applied.  Lip colour will appear much darker but will fade within 3-5 days.  The lip area will become swollen and uncomfortable due to the sensitivity of this facial area and slight discomfort for 24-48 hours post procedure.

Numbing Methods – Does it hurt?  Topical numbing methods are used for all procedures each individual client toleration is different most clients feel a slight discomfort on the first plantation of pigment.  Once the initial tension has suppressed most clients don’t feel any discomfort, relaxation and numbing methods is key to eliminate discomfort.
All clients are required to complete a comprehensive record card and photographing images are taken to allow the technician to keep records updated.  (Information is confidential)
